Hospital Visit

Mrs Purkayastha is available at BUPA Cromwell Hospital for consultations as well as operative procedures.  To make an appointment to see Mrs Purkayastha you should contact the hospital’s appointment team direct on 0207 460 5700.  The team will assist and guide you through the booking process.  If you are a new patient, it is advisable to arrive approximately ten minutes prior to your consultation so that you will have plenty of time to complete the registration paperwork.  Upon arrival at the hospital, the concierge will notify you of Mrs Purkayastha’s consultation room where you should present yourself for your consultation.

If you are seeing Mrs Purkayastha for the first time, please allow up to 30 minutes for your consultation as your full medical history will be discussed and an examination will take place.  Thereafter she will guide you for appropriate tests according to your symptoms.  In most cases you will be asked to return for a follow up appointment in order to discuss the results and any further treatment.

If you are arriving for a procedure, you should report to reception and the helpful staff will escort you to your room.  You will be asked various questions by the nursing staff and Mrs Purkayastha will usually visit you prior to the operation.  If you are coming in for a short procedure as a day case, then you should be able to go home on the same day when you feel comfortable.  If you are admitted for an overnight stay or longer, then the doctor will advise you accordingly.  Prior to your admission you will be asked to attend the hospital for a pre-assessment clinic where a nurse will take all the appropriate details, together with a blood test if required and an MRSA swab test to check that you do not have any super bugs in your system.  This is a simple test where a swab is taken from inside the nose and the result is ready the next day.

You may also come to the hospital for an outpatient procedure, for example colposcopy and treatment or hysteroscopy.  For this, you should ideally arrive ten to fifteen minutes earlier than your appointment so that you can be seen by the nurse, change into comfortable clothing and await the doctor.  If you require a prescription Mrs Purkayastha will give this to you to take to the hospital pharmacy located on the same floor.
