2. Outpatient dates and times? 

 

Tuesday and Friday mornings at BUPA Cromwell Hospital. Appointments are available outside these times upon request.

 

3. What are the fees? 

 

Guide price (subject to change) New Patient  £210 and £160 for a follow up appointment.  However the fees are also dependent upon the total duration of the consultation.

4. How soon can I see Mrs Purkayastha? 

 

Within a week, if you are flexible regarding her consulting room locations in London.

 

5. Can my husband/friend/mother come with me to my appointment?

 

Yes, of course, you can be accompanied at any time..

 

6. How long will my appointment take?

 

Usually between 20 - 45 minutes depending upon your requirements.

 

7. Do I need a GP referral letter?

You do not require a GP referral letter for your consultation, although it can be very helpful to provide the necessary medical history.  Also if you are insured, most insurance companies do require a letter of referral to ensure you meet their criteria.  Unless you state otherwise, your GP will always be sent a copy of the report from your consultation with Mrs Purkayastha to update them regarding any treatment you receive etc.

8. What is the code for my procedure?

You will be given a procedure code when your test/s or operation/s have been confirmed.  Mrs Purkayastha will often be able to do this during your final consultation before your procedure.  It can also be provided by the hospital where you receive the treatment.  Please do not hesitate to contact us on 07852 698759 if you require further information regarding your procedure code.

9. How long will it take to obtain my test results?

Depending upon the tests carried out, your test results should be available within one week. Mrs Purkayastha will advise you accordingly during your appointment when the tests are carried out.  You will be required to make a follow up appointment in order to receive your results. 

10. Do I need to see Mrs Purkayastha again to receive my test results? 

In most cases yes, as Mrs Purkayastha will give you the treatment needed at your follow up consultation, depending upon your results.

11. If I see Mrs Purkayastha and she thinks I need a smear or colposcopy can I have this done at the same time or do I have to return to the clinic and make another appointment?

This is possible, especially if you have had a colposcopy previously or you are suitably prepared and know  exactly what to expect. Please click here for more information on colposcopy.

12. How many days after my period should I have my smear test?

Usually between 7-10 days.  At the appointment you will be asked for the date when your last period started.

13. What does a routine gynaecological check up entail and how much will it cost?

14. Can I see Mrs Purkayastha for a second opinion?

Yes, provided your insurance company will agree to pay or you are self-funding.  You should always contact your insurance company in the first instance to ensure this is the case and they will issue you with a pre-authorisation number, to be given to the Dr Purkayastha and/or administration team at the consulting rooms or hospital.

15. Does Mrs Purkayastha do medico-legal reports? 

No

16. Does Mrs Purkayastha do obstetrics?

No

17. Can I see Mrs Purkaystha for infertility treatment? 

Mrs Purkaystha often carries out Investigations for infertility.  She treats patients with PCOS, anovulation, irregular periods etc.  If you require IVF she will refer you to an appropriate IVF clinic following discussions with you regarding the most suitable clinic for your requirements.

Mrs Purkayastha does the vaccination for cervical cancer.
